”The Longest Day” (”Päivä ilman yötä”), directed by Jonas Selberg Augustsén and co-produced by Empire Pictures, has been selected to the 37th edition of Midnight Sun Film Festival in Sodankylä, Lapland. The Festival takes place June 15th–19th, 2022.
Feature film ”1000”, written by Empire Pictures’ Annalisa Schmuckli, has received a scriptwriting grant from The Cultural Committee of the City of Espoo. The project has previously also received screen writing grants from The Finnish Film Foundation and TAIKE - Art Promotion Center Finland.
The Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture in Finland, AVEK, has granted development funding to Empire Pictures’ animated short film “Vagina Confinement“, a story about a single woman and her physical needs in times of COVID-19 lockdown. The movie is written and directed by Saana Räntilä and the animation is being designed by animation artist Erika Weiste.
Mental Samurai Finland, premiered on channel 4 (Nelonen) in February 2020, has been selected as a finalist to compete in the Kultainen Venla-awards. Kultainen Venla -gala, organised by the Finnish Television Academy annually, recognizes the year's best Finnish television programs, their creators and performers. The Game Show “Mental Samurai Finland”, shot in Spain and produced by Empire Pictures’ Saana Räntilä, has been nominated as the best game show in Finland 2020.
Finnish actor Ville Virtanen has been nominated for best actor in supporting role in the Guldbagge 2021 awards for his role in “The Longest Day“ (“Päivä ilman yötä“), directed by Jonas Selberg Augustsén and co-produced by Empire Pictures. The Guldbagge Awards is the annual and leading Swedish film awards ceremony honoring outstanding contributions to the Swedish film industry. The award ceremony will take place on January 25th 2021.
